Christian followers around the globe solemnize Easter with great fervor and enthusiasm. Easter is celebrated in remembrance of the revival of Christ from death, 3rd day after his crucifixion.
 However, Easter around the globe has lots of common things, yet its celebration and Easter dates vary from place to place across the world. The differences can be mostly noticed in the celebration of Western & Eastern Christians. A quick look at Easter celebrations around the world -

HUNGARY -‘Sprinkling’, a popular Hungarian Easter tradition, is witnessed on Easter Monday, also known as “Ducking Monday.” Boys sprinkle perfumed water on girls. Initially water was poured, but now they spray perfume and ask for a kiss. Painted Easter Eggs, Home baked Easter cookies are some of symbolic Easter Desserts.

ENGLAND -The Easter celebration in England commences a week before the day, precisely, on Palm Sunday. Legends speak, Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and people greeted him by laying a carpet of palm branches. Even they waved Palm leaves to the lord. Even today they do the same during Easters. E The palm branches are often used to make garlands and crosses and in Easter decorations. Easter cakes and Easter biscuits are some of Easter dishes here.

POLAND-Polish people have Easter Tradition of pouring water on one another. On Easter Monday, people try to drench others with buckets of water, squirt guns or other tactics. Dictums say that girls who get drenched get married within the year, and it is considered as Easter Gift.

NORWAY- People in Norway, greet each other with Easter Wishes. Easter is such a popular time for Norway people to read crime novels. The tradition is considered to be started in 1920’s when a publisher promoted his new crime novel on the front pages of newspapers.

GREECE-In Greece morning of Holy Saturday, the traditional “Pot Throwing” takes place on the Greek island of Corfu.  People throw pots and other earthenware out of their windows in streets. People exchange Easter Greetings. Many believe that throwing of the pans welcomes spring and typifies the new crops that will be gathered in the pots. Sweet Cheese is one of the most prominent Easter Dishes here.

FRANCE-In this wonderful country Easter celebrations are a bit different. Each year a giant omelet is served up in the town’s main square in France on Easters. The omelet uses more than 4.5 thousand eggs which can feed 1,000 people. Easter dishes of France are just yummy. People say, ‘Do not forget a fork if you’re in this town on Easter Monday.’ Chocolate raspberry, toasted almond meringues and berry shortcakes are amongst French Easter Desserts.

INDIA- Though only 2.5% of census is Christian in India, Easter is celebrated with great zeal. The celebrations of Easter in India commence on Easter Sunday. Christianity followers all over the country, especially in Mumbai, Goa and the Northeastern states, make ample arrangements for Easter festivities. Though people in India do not decorate Easter eggs they still purchase them and gift them to their loved ones. Some people bake Easter CakesEaster bunnies are also sold in the stores and people exchange gift items with each other. Goa is a treat to watch on Easters.Colorful carnivals are part of the festivities there. Holy Cross, Colorful lanterns are often exchanged as Easter Gifts in India. Due to diversified lifestyle and culture in India, the tastes vary from region to region.

USA-Amid Easter celebrations in USA, Even today, Kids wait for delivery of Easter Eggs and candy from the Easter bunny each year. The White House has entertains the Easter Egg Roll on its South Lawn. It involves rolling a colored hard-boiled egg with a giant spoon. It boasts of more amusements, like musical groups, egg hunt, and sports. It has themes per year sometimes to promote health and wellness that features different activities.

ITALY- Easter celebration in Italy is unique of its type. Prior to the Sunday on Good Friday the Pope celebrates the ‘Way of Cross’ at the Colosseum. A huge cross with burning torches illuminates the sky. On Easter Sunday, thousands of visitors accumulate in St. Peter’s Square and wait the Pope to bless them from the church’s balcony.

SPAIN- On Holy Thursday in the medieval town of Verges, Spain, ‘death dance’ is performed. To showcase passion everyone dresses in skeleton costumes and marches in street. The show ends with skeletons carrying boxes of ashes. Macabre dance, one of Easter menu, begins at midnight and continues till early morning. Sweet is the vital part of Easter dishes here.
